Over its 800-year history, the University of Padua has built a rich and diverse cultural heritage, including historical buildings, scientific instruments, natural history and medical collections, iconographic materials, archaeological finds, paintings, manuscripts, and rare books, preserved across its libraries, archives, museums, centres, and departments.

To safeguard, promote and share this heritage in the digital age, the University of Padua uses PHAIDRA. Drawing on digital cultural assets from across the University's disciplines and from partner institutions, PHAIDRA – University of Padua provides open access to digital objects and collections for scholars and the general public alike, supporting research and teaching, strengthening the University's public engagement, and fostering the wider dissemination of knowledge.

Partnerships

Since April 2010, the University of Padua and the University of Vienna have begun a partnership for the use and future development of PHAIDRA. Since 2014, the Ca' Foscari and IUAV Universities, in Venice, have been publishing their digital collections on PHAIDRA.
In subsequent years, other institutions and associations have also chosen to use PHAIDRA for their digital collections, signing specific agreements with the University Library Centre of the University of Padua.
